A new endeavor – Psychological Maps for the Spiritual Journey

After many years, I’m reviving this blog. The blog began in 2011 with my first sabbatical. It remains here for the memories and maybe of some interest to others.

This new endeavor is to present my ramblings interspersed with some hopefully cogent thoughts on ways psychology can help us in our spritiual development–psychological maps for the spiritual journey. In addition to my decades experience as an educator (Professor of Psychology and Counseling), therapist, and minister/chaplain, I’ll be drawing on the devotional writers mostly of the 15-17th centuries, as well as more contemporay writers in the field of spiritual formation.

I wish I could claim to be an expert in these matters. But a certain sentiment has been expressed from time to time, especially about the spiritual life. Thomas Merton may have expressed it best:

“We do not want to be beginners, but let us be convinced of the fact that we will never be anything but beginners, all our life!”

Join me on this journey of beginners and let’s discover a little bit more of who we are.
